Treadmill Reading Racks and Book Holders – Magazine Shelf For Running Machines

Many of us like something to focus on while we are working out as it helps pass the time and alleviate some of the boredom which can set it after a while. Probably the number one thing which stops people from continuing to use a treadmill, or to discontinue any other form of exercise regime, is monotony and boredom. Plodding along in one place is not to everyone’s taste so most of us need a distraction.

For many of us, reading is something which can help pass the time while working out, whether it be a book, newspaper or magazine and the great thing is, a treadmill is the ideal exercise machine for this kind of distraction.

Many modern treadmills comes with reading racks and book holders attached but for those which do not, and for those whose reading trays are not sufficiently well designed to hold your book or magazine effectively, there are some add on magazine rack attachments you can buy instead. These reading rack attachments are typically made of a clear plastic or perspex which slots on over the top of the workout monitor, the see-through plastic allowing you to still see the monitor when you’re not reading.

Each book rack has a little lip at the bottom on which to rest your book or magazine for hand-free reading while you work out. Even you own a treadmill without a reading stand, then you are in luck because most have the space to attach one and most book racks are one size fits all. Some slide over or clip on whilst a smaller number may require some more permanent fixture to the running machine.

If a book and magazine holder for treadmills sounds like something you’d be interested in then there are a couple of different types to condsider. You can choose from a fixed book stand which attaches to the front on the treadmill, usually over the monitor in some way, or an adjustable book / magazine holder which often attaches to the stability bars and can be swiveled around to a comfortable reading position. Some of these book holders will also hold your page position, others will simple hold your chosen reading material upright which may or may not work better for you.

Treadmill book holders are definitely something which are worth the investment as a few pennies spent here can increase the usable life of your treadmill sometimes exponentially.
